{"id":332805,"date":"2025-12-08T17:33:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T17:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/332805\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T17:33:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T17:33:08","slug":"president-trump-hosts-the-kennedy-center-honors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/332805\/","title":{"rendered":"President Trump hosts the Kennedy Center Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">President Trump took a central role in the annual Kennedy Center Honors on 7 December, moving away from tradition by taking on the hosting duties for the night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The awards, which went to stars including Sylvester Stallone and Gloria Gaynor, were handed out by the president in a ceremony the day before in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Previous hosts of the awards show have included Walter Cronkite, Steven Colbert and Caroline Kennedy &#8211; John F Kennedy&#8217;s daughter &#8211; but Trump is the first president to host.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Earlier this year, Trump ousted the Kennedy Center&#8217;s leadership and replaced much of the board of trustees with Republican supporters.
