\n\tThe Golden Globes<\/a> are living up to their name, nominating the smash hit \u201cGolden\u201d from KPop Demon Hunters<\/a> along with the film itself.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Netflix<\/a> animated feature, produced by Sony Pictures Animation<\/a>, scored three 2026 Golden Globes nominations<\/a> Monday morning including best animated motion picture, best original song from a motion picture for \u201cGolden\u201d and cinematic and box office achievement. The latter comes as a bit of a surprise as the only streaming film to be nominated. While KPop Demon Hunters never had a traditional theatrical release, it has now had two small weekend-long stints in theaters.<\/p>\n

\n\tKPop Demon Hunters has become Netflix\u2019s most popular title ever. The project chronicles the adventures of Huntrix, a K-pop girl group comprised of three members who also just happen to fight monsters from the underworld. In addition to topping the Netflix charts, its soundtrack has spent several weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart.\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter\u00a0first broke the news in August that a\u00a0sequel film is in talks<\/a>\u00a0at Netflix and Sony Animation, however, it was confirmed last month<\/a> that the directors and studio had confirmed their deals with the streamer for the next installment.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film has now had two theatrical release stints for the sing-along version film. It most recently returned to theaters this past Halloween weekend in AMC, Regal and Cinemark theaters across the country, along with several chains around the world. The sing-along film was previously in theaters for a weekend in August, purportedly raking in $17 million to $18 million at the box office. (Netflix did not report its grosses.)<\/p>\n

\n\tThe singers behind Huntrix \u2013\u00a0Ejae, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna \u2013 have been busy ahead of the award season. The trio have been taking their chart-topping song on the road for live performances on Saturday Night Live<\/a> and The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon<\/a>, and most recently performed in the Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade<\/a>. They\u2019re slated to perform at Dick Clark\u2019s 2026 New Year\u2019s Rockin\u2019 Eve.<\/p>\n
