Shedeur Sanders will be under centre for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters on Monday that Sanders is the team’s starting quarterback for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n
“He has constantly and consistently gotten better\u2026I feel good about where his development is heading,” Stefanski said.<\/p>\n
The announcement came following Sunday’s 31-29 barnburner loss to the Tennessee Titans, where Sanders threw for 364 yards and accounted for all four Browns touchdowns.<\/p>\n
The 23-year-old rookie has made three starts this season. On the year, he’s thrown for 759 yards and five touchdowns to go with one rushing touchdown and three interceptions.<\/p>\n
Sanders was selected by Cleveland in the fifth round of the 2025 draft, 144th overall. The Browns also picked Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel earlier in that draft at 94th overall.<\/p>\n
Sanders, of Dallas, played his last years of college football at the University of Colorado, where he was coached by his NFL Hall of Fame father Deion Sanders.<\/p>\n
Cleveland (3-10) has a long history of quarterback insecurity, with Sanders being the team’s third starter this season alone after veteran Joe Flacco and Gabriel. Flacco was traded to the Bengals in October.<\/p>\n
Along with Sanders, Stefanski announced that starting centre Ethan Pocic (achilles) is out for the season.<\/p>\n
