Khamzat Chimaev doesn\u2019t plan to make the UFC middleweight division his home permanently.<\/p>\n
Despite only capturing the UFC Middleweight Championship back in August, Chimaev is already talking about moving up to the light heavyweight division. Chimaev hasn\u2019t been shy about targeting reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira.<\/p>\n
During an interview with ESPN\u2019s Brett Okamoto<\/a>, Chimaev revealed his days as a 185-pounder are numbered (via MMAJunkie<\/a>).<\/p>\n \u201cI want for sure one more fight, and then I\u2019m going to go one more weight class up,\u201d Chimaev told ESPN MMA. \u201cOne more fight, and I move up next fight.\u201d<\/p>\n As far as whether or not he\u2019ll get a showdown with \u201cPoatan,\u201d Chimaev isn\u2019t sold on<\/a> Pereira being interested in the matchup.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think he wants that fight,\u201d Chimaev said. \u201cHe knows about it, the UFC knows about it, so I can\u2019t say the things that the UFC says to me. It\u2019s going to be disrespectful to Alex because everyone knows this guy is not my level. He\u2019s a good striker, one of the best strikers. I give the respect to him. He has knockout power and everything, but ask whoever, 99 percent in the world who\u2019s watching the UFC, they\u2019re going to tell you who\u2019s going to win that fight.\u201d<\/p>\n
