‘The production used the icy lake for a dramatic dog-sled chase, capturing the stark beauty and haunting serenity of our winter landscape under crisp northern skies’<\/p>\n

The winter landscape, including an ice-covered Lake Nipissing, has been featured in a high-profile horror movie that is currently playing on Netflix.<\/p>\n

The online streaming\u00a0platform featured Lake Nipissing on the #Netflixyourneighbourhood website<\/a> as a filming location for the feature film.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“These scenes were filmed on Lake Nipissing in North Bay, one of Ontario\u2019s largest lakes, and a hot spot for beaches, marinas, and boating in the summer, while winter transforms the lake into a hub for ice fishing, snowmobiling, and local festivals,” Netflix stated on its site.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Frankenstein, a new adaptation directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, was partially shot on the frozen surface of Lake Nipissing near King’s Landing.<\/p>\n

The film is one of the top five\u00a0projected Oscar nomination leaders that includes\u00a0\u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d; \u201cSinners\u201d; \u201cHamnet\u201d; and \u201cWicked: For Good.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film is an adaptation of\u00a0the classic tale of\u00a0Victor Frankenstein,\u00a0a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.\u2060<\/p>\n
