\n\t\u201cBaahubali\u201d star Tamannaah Bhatia<\/a> has been cast as actor Jayashree in the upcoming Indian biographical drama \u201cV. Shantaram<\/a>,\u201d joining Siddhant Chaturvedi<\/a> in the epic chronicle of the pioneering Indian filmmaker\u2019s life and legacy.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe makers unveiled a first-look poster of Bhatia as Jayashree, the accomplished actor known for her work in films including \u201cDr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani,\u201d \u201cShakuntala,\u201d \u201cChandra Rao More\u201d and \u201cDahej.\u201d Jayashree was also V. Shantaram\u2019s second wife and a key figure in his cinematic journey.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe poster showcases Bhatia draped in a pink Nauvari saree, evoking the vintage era of Indian cinema. The casting follows the recent unveiling of Chaturvedi in the title role <\/a>of the biographical drama tracing Shantaram\u2019s journey from the silent era through his emergence as one of India\u2019s most influential auteurs.<\/p>\n

\n\tV. Shantaram, born Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre in 1901, was a pioneering force in Indian cinema whose career spanned nearly seven decades. He founded two major film studios \u2014 Prabhat Film Company in 1929 and Rajkamal Kalamandir in 1942 \u2014 and directed the first Marathi-language talkie, \u201cAyodhyecha Raja,\u201d in 1932. His films, including classics like \u201cDuniya Na Mane\u201d (1937), \u201cDo Aankhen Barah Haath\u201d (1957), \u201cJhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje\u201d (1955) and \u201cNavrang\u201d (1959) were celebrated for their technical innovations and progressive social themes addressing issues like communal harmony, dowry, and prisoner rehabilitation. Known for his signature style of lavish sets, unique song picturizations, and visual symbolism \u2014 he used cinema as an instrument for social change throughout his career. He received India\u2019s highest film honor, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, in 1985.<\/p>\n

\n\tWritten and directed by Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande, \u201cV. Shantaram\u201d is presented by Rajkamal Enterttainment, Camera Take Films and Roaring Rivers Productions.
