Tony Finau amongst those who have dropped in the OWGR(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\nSix PGA Tour stars have plummeted in the Official World Golf Rankings as they hunt for an invite to the 2026 Masters but some haven’t seen a victory in years<\/p>\n

2025 was great for players like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, but didn\u2019t go well for six PGA Tour stars.<\/p>\n
Changes are blooming in the golf industry, as the PGA Tour<\/a> has made it more difficult for players to earn their Tour cards<\/a> and now the top 50 inside the Official World Golf Rankings at the end of the calendar year earn an invite to the Masters<\/a>, with many players fighting for a spot.<\/p>\n Five years ago, Tony Finau was seen as an upcoming star as he played alongside Tiger Woods<\/a> at the 2019 Masters final round, except Finau hasn\u2019t won a trophy since 2023. It seemed like Finau was going to win early 2025 and he held respect across the sport. He had two wins in 2023 and five top-10s the following year which helped him stay high in the rankings, but it’s quickly plummeting.<\/p>\n Finau has dropped from 26 to 89 within the year after only one top-five finish and several missed cuts.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Aaron Hernandez’s autopsy revealed chilling ‘worst-ever’ discovery<\/a>READ MORE: Jalen Hurts broke ESPN’s special MNF broadcast with never-before-seen NFL play<\/a><\/p>\n Adam Scott has also tanked in the rankings even though he just earned himself an invite to the Open Championship in July through his fifth place finish at the Australian Open. He continues to perform well year-by-year, but his rankings fluctuate.<\/p>\n In May 2024, Scott\u2019s missed cut at the PGA Championship dropped him to 62 in the rankings. The last time Scott has earned a win on the DP World Tour was in 2019 at the Australian PGA Championship.<\/p>\n Billy Horschel has also dropped in the rankings, as he tied for 11 at the Bank of Utah Championship and is currently at 46 after a 15 place finish at the Hero World Challenge. Horschel also struggled after having hip surgery in May and is looking for redemption.<\/p>\n Tom Kim is 102 in the OWGR, started off the year at 21, and saw his last PGA Tour victory in 2023.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a big mental game,\u201d said Kim after the second round of the Sanderson Farms Championship, where he finished T-11.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you’re not confident about yourself on the golf course, you’re not going to hit as good of shots as you would normally be able to.<\/p>\n READ MORE: What happened in Philip Rivers’ workout as Colts face decision on 44-year-old QB<\/a>READ MORE: Rory McIlroy beats Scottie Scheffler to prestigious honor after historic season ends<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cAfter the season got done, I saw everything more clearly, how I needed to get it done, and ever since the last putt dropped after the season, I’ve been working towards that and it’s been building blocks every week until today and will progress to next year.\u201d<\/p>\n![\"Billy](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/0_GettyImages-2250538714.jpg\")
