FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis on Tuesday said that he has \u201cno doubt the NBA\u2019s new league overseas will launch, and called October 2027 a \u2018realistic target\u2019 for tipoff,\u201d according to Joe Vardon of THE ATHLETIC. Zagklis will oversee the men\u2019s World Cup in Qatar, which concludes in September 2027, and one month later, FIBA and the NBA would \u201claunch a new competition in Europe\u201d that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has \u201cconsidered for years.\u201d It would \u201cattract conglomerate-level, uber-rich investors for new and existing franchises in Europe\u2019s major cities.\u201d One of Zagklis\u2019 \u201cchief areas of concern, and, perhaps, influence when it comes to the new league FIBA and the NBA are creating\u201d are the clubs competing in the EuroLeague.
