This funding supports a more seamless transition for patients and enhances the overall quality of our local health-care system. I’m proud to stand behind this initiative, which will bring meaningful, lasting benefits to families across our community.”

This funding is part of Ontario’s investment of over $229 million this year to support the continued operation of over 3,500 acute, post-acute and critical care beds across the province.

This is another step the government is taking to improve access, expand capacity and decrease wait times at Ontario’s hospitals, building a health-care system that better serves patients both now and into the future.

“Our government is making historic investments in Ontario’s hospitals to ensure people and families have access to fast and convenient care, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, deputy premier and minister of health. “This investment builds on our work to enhance capacity in our hospitals and will provide communities with the beds they need to deliver high-quality health care close to home, for years to come.”

Through Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, Ontario is making it easier and faster for people of all ages to connect to the care they need, where and when they need it.

Quick facts

Ontario invested an additional $3.3 billion in 2022-23, bringing the total additional investment in hospitals to $8.8 billion since 2018-19. This investment includes $1.5 billion to support the continuation of over 3,500 acute, post-acute and critical care beds.
Over the next 10 years, Ontario is investing nearly $60 billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds and build a connected, people-first health-care system.

“We are very grateful to the Ministry of Health for this funding that directly supports the operation of these beds, which are critical to patient flow and timely access to care,” said Carmine Stumpo, president and CEO, Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.

“It also reduces pressure on our emergency department and supports patients in receiving the right care in the right setting. This commitment from the province strengthens our ability to serve the community and deliver high-quality care when it’s needed most.”

*************************

Having additional beds ‘reduces pressure on our emergency department and supports patients in receiving the right care in…

[34
49,48,84,392,147912
0":"post-336985","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-healthcare","8":"tag-ca","9":"tag-canada","10":"tag-health","11":"tag-healthcare","12":"tag-orillia-soldiers-memorial-hospitaljill-dunloposmhchamplain-manor-retirement-residencesimcoe-north-mpp-jill-dunlopmpp-jill-dunlopchamplain-manor
["GET
