{"id":337136,"date":"2025-12-10T16:27:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T16:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/337136\/"},"modified":"2025-12-10T16:27:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T16:27:08","slug":"canada-records-second-longest-median-wait-time-for-medical-treatment-new-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/337136\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada Records Second-Longest Median Wait Time for Medical Treatment: New Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/hospital-doctor-waiting-room.png\" class=\"header-image\" alt=\"Canada Records Second-Longest Median Wait Time for Medical Treatment: New Report\"\/>\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraserinstitute.org\/studies\/waiting-your-turn-wait-times-for-health-care-in-canada-2025?utm_source=Email&amp;utm_campaign=Waiting-Your-Turn-2025&amp;utm_medium=Dev_email&amp;utm_content=Learn_More&amp;utm_term=700\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new report by the Fraser Institute <\/a>shows that the median wait time for medical treatment in Canada was 28.6 weeks \u2013 the second-longest ever recorded.<\/p>\n<p>The Fraser Institute conducted a survey of physicians across the country to gain an understanding of the amount of time it takes in each province for a patient to receive treatment after a family doctor\u2019s referral. <\/p>\n<p>The longest wait times were in the four Atlantic provinces, but among them, Newfoundland and Labrador had the shortest wait times. <\/p>\n<p>In 1993, it took about 10 and a half (10.6) weeks for a patient in Newfoundland and Labrador to receive treatment following a doctor\u2019s referral.
