Despite taking the fight on short notice, he stormed out to an early lead in the fight. He was dominating the grappling against Alberto Montes, and seemed comfortable enough on his feet as well. However, the short notice nature of the fight eventually caught up to him as he gassed out and was finished. While that loss doesn\u2019t look great, it\u2019s easy to see why it happened. Now with a full training camp for this bout, I expect to see the same skill stretched out over three full rounds \u2013 should it take that long.<\/p>\n Standing across from him will be Mauricio Gomez. Gomez has shown some holes in his defensive wrestling, which should be a clear avenue that Calderon can explore for the win. Additionally, he\u2019s one for throwing one-and-done punches on the feet and should be a step or two slower than Calderon.<\/p>\n Despite having all of these advantages, the books still have Calderon as an underdog.
