A new AirTag was long rumored to launch in 2025, but that hasn\u2019t happened yet. When the upgraded AirTag 2 product does arrive though, a new leak has revealed five improved features it could bring.<\/p>\n
Leaked iOS 26 code highlights AirTag 2 features in the works<\/p>\n
Yesterday Filipe Esp\u00f3sito at Macworld reported on<\/a> three upgrades coming with Apple\u2019s next Studio Display.<\/p>\n Now, his latest report<\/a> mentions changes coming with the long-awaited AirTag 2.<\/p>\n AirTag 2 is expected to include the following five improvements, per Esp\u00f3sito:<\/p>\n an improved pairing process<\/p>\n enhanced Precision Finding<\/p>\n detailed battery level reporting<\/p>\n \u201dImproved Moving,\u201d which might improve tracking while AirTag 2 is moving<\/p>\n more accurate tracking in crowded places<\/p>\n These features were all discovered as part of a \u201cleaked internal build of iOS 26 seen by\u00a0Macworld.\u201d<\/p>\n Interestingly enough, the report mentions that these upgrades include a \u201c2025AirTag\u201d internal designation. Thus, it seems Apple was at one point planning to launch AirTag 2 this year\u2014and technically still might.<\/p>\n Finally, the report also highlights that a new HomePod mini is in the works, something we\u2019ve heard before<\/a>.
