Rob Lantz has announced that he is resigning as premier of Prince Edward Island as he seeks to become the leader of the Progressive Conservatives.<\/p>\n

Lantz had been interim leader of the party and was sworn in as premier in February after Dennis King stepped down.<\/p>\n

Lantz had served as education minister under King, who had been premier since 2019.<\/p>\n

Lantz had also previously said he wouldn\u2019t seek the party\u2019s permanent leadership. <\/p>\n

He says his decision to seek the job now wasn\u2019t a move he made lightly.<\/p>\n
