Rust was the subject of trade rumors throughout the summer, and it is fair to wonder if he could be a player the Penguins listen to offers for near the deadline. The 33-year-old winger would have the potential to get the Penguins a major return in a potential deal, especially when noting that he has a bargain $5.125 million cap hit until the end of the 2027-28. However, if the Penguins keep staying hot, they likely will keep Rust.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Erik Karlsson\u00a0<\/p>\n
Karlsson is another Penguin who has been in the rumor mill for quite some time. His contract is the biggest obstacle in a potential trade, but if the Penguins are open to retaining some of his salary, that could open the door to a move. Teams looking for more offense from the point and help on the power play could consider taking a shot on the skilled blueliner.<\/p>\n
