{"id":341410,"date":"2025-12-12T23:22:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-12T23:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/341410\/"},"modified":"2025-12-12T23:22:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T23:22:17","slug":"rafael-nadal-undergoes-right-hand-surgery-to-relieve-pain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/341410\/","title":{"rendered":"Rafael Nadal undergoes right-hand surgery to relieve pain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BARCELONA, Spain \u2014 Rafael Nadal has undergone surgery to treat pain and gain mobility in his right hand, the retired tennis great said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The 22-time Grand Slam champion, who plays left-handed, said in an <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RafaelNadal\/status\/1999460652683792560\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RafaelNadal\/status\/1999460652683792560\" rel=\"nofollow\">X post<\/a> that he had been dealing with the issue &#8220;for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nadal accompanied the social media post with a photo of himself with his right arm bandaged and in a sling. He also quipped that he \u201cwon\u2019t be able to play the Australian Open,\u201d the first major of next year.<\/p>\n<p>The surgery was \u201caimed at relieving pain and restoring mobility\u201d of the joint at the base of his right thumb, according to a separate statement from Nadal\u2019s representative.
