The San Antonio Spurs<\/a> made a roster move on Friday that could pay off for the franchise in the long run.<\/p>\n

The five-time NBA champions signed a 6-foot-4 former Los Angeles Lakers guard<\/a> to assist Victor Wembanyama.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe San Antonio Spurs are signing Kyle Mangas to a two-way contract,\u201d HoopsHype\u2019s Michael Scotto reported on X\/Twitter. \u201cMangas has averaged 18.5 points on 50% shooting from the field and 41% from three-point range, 5.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals for the Austin Spurs in the G-League.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite being a pro for nearly five seasons, the Indiana Wesleyan product has yet to compete in an official NBA contest. Mangas started his career with USK Praha (Czech Republic) and Siauliai-bet (Lithuania) before returning to the States in 2023.<\/p>\n

After spending the 2023-24 season with the Indiana Pacers<\/a>\u2019 G-League affiliate, the Noblesville Boom (formerly known as the Indiana Mad Ants), Mangas inked a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> for the 2024 Summer League. Unfortunately, the Warsaw, Indiana native didn\u2019t last long with Los Angeles, as he failed to make the franchise\u2019s opening night roster.<\/p>\n

Following another short stint with the Mad Ants, Mangas signed with the Vancouver Bandits (CEBL) before joining the Austin Spurs (San Antonio\u2019s G-League affiliate) for the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n

Considering Mangas is a 40.7% career three-point shooter in the G-League and has 43 games of experience in the NBA\u2019s minor league, the Spurs\u2019 decision to promote him in mid-December isn\u2019t a terrible idea for the up-and-coming Western Conference franchise.<\/p>\n
