The New York Yankees<\/a> are likely to spend some money this winter, but ideally for Hal Steinbrenner and the Yankees front office, they won’t overspend for the top free agents.<\/p>\n

While Cody Bellinger is still an option, a few cheaper options are much more likely additions this winter for the Yankees.<\/p>\n

According to Jack Curry of YES<\/a>, one of those moves occurred a few days after the MLB Winter Meetings. The Yankees are re-signing a former New York Mets<\/a> journeyman infielder to a one-year, $2.5 million free agent contract.<\/p>\n

“Amed Rosario signed a one-year deal with the Yankees,” Curry reports. “Smart bench addition. The Yankees need some RH bats. Rosario crushes lefties and has versatility.”<\/p>\n

This is a solid bench addition for the Yankees, and as Jon Heyman of The New York Post<\/a> reports, it’s a small $2.5 million deal.<\/p>\n

Rosario is a nine-year MLB veteran who most recently spent some time with the Yankees in 2025. He played in just 16 games for the Yankees, but hit .303 with a .788 OPS in his limited time to finish out the regular season.<\/p>\n

In the postseason, across four games and 10 at-bats, Rosario hit .300 with a .700 OPS. He’s a bench option who can hit left-handed pitching for the Yankees, something they need with a lefty-heavy lineup.<\/p>\n

Rosario spent the first four years of his career with the Mets before joining the Cleveland Guardians<\/a>, then going to the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>, Tampa Bay Rays<\/a>, Cincinnati Reds<\/a>, and Washington Nationals<\/a> before joining the Yankees.<\/p>\n

Rosario is a quality bench addition, and while the Yankees aren’t done this winter, re-signing Rosario is a good way to provide lineup insurance against lefty pitching in 2026.<\/p>\n
