A day after the Minnesota Wild<\/a> won the Quinn Hughes<\/a> sweepstakes, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun can confirm a number of other teams attempted to acquire the superstar defenceman from the Vancouver Canucks<\/a>. <\/p>\n

LeBrun reports the New Jersey Devils<\/a>, Detroit Red Wings<\/a> and New York Rangers<\/a> all made an effort to get Hughes, adding the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> and Buffalo Sabres<\/a> were interested \u201cto some degree.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the end, the Wild offered the best package, sending centre Marco Rossi<\/a>, forward Liam \u00d6hgren, defenceman Zeev Buium<\/a> and a first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft for the 26-year-old American.<\/p>\n

Hughes, who won the Norris Trophy in 2024, has two goals and 21 assists over 26 games for the Canucks this season, who sit last in the NHL with a 11-17-3 record. <\/p>\n

The Devils are probably the most interesting team in the group that made a run for Hughes, as their lineup features his brothers Jack and Luke.<\/p>\n

He had two goals and 24 assists in 30 playoff games, making the postseason just twice in eight seasons with the Canucks. <\/p>\n
