{"id":345027,"date":"2025-12-14T16:41:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-14T16:41:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/345027\/"},"modified":"2025-12-14T16:41:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-14T16:41:11","slug":"uvms-rob-dow-to-lead-penn-state-mens-soccer-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/345027\/","title":{"rendered":"UVM&#8217;s Rob Dow to lead Penn State men&#8217;s soccer team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rob Dow, the coach who led the University of Vermont men\u2019s soccer team to a national championship last year, is leaving his job to coach at Penn State, UVM\u2019s athletics department announced Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Dow leaves the men\u2019s soccer team as by far its most successful coach in program history. The team won 109 games under his direction, lost just 41 and tied 21, according to a press release. He has been UVM\u2019s head soccer coach since 2017 and has been on the team\u2019s coaching staff since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Most notably, Dow\u2019s team won the 2024 NCAA Division I tournament last December with a 2-1 victory over Marshall University. That brought UVM its first national trophy, in any major sport, in school history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoaching at Vermont the last 14 years has been one of the greatest honors of my life,\u201d Dow said in the release from UVM Athletics. \u201cMy family and I will always cherish our time in Vermont and the memories we made together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dow\u2019s departure comes just weeks after UVM men\u2019s soccer was upset in an early round of this year\u2019s NCAA Division I tournament. (Photo courtesy of Alex Weiss)<\/p>\n<p>Penn State men\u2019s soccer has won two NCAA championships, though unlike at UVM, it\u2019s been a long time since those wins \u2014 1954 and 1955. The school, which is in State College, Pennsylvania, is a member of the NCAA\u2019s Big Ten Conference. That\u2019s one of the most prominent collegiate sports divisions in the U.S., with 11 soccer teams spread across the country.
