George Clooney is no longer interested in romance on the big screen.<\/p>\n
During a recent interview with the Daily Mail<\/a>, Clooney said that after having a discussion with his wife, Amal Clooney, about his age, he will no longer be \u201ckissing girls\u201d in movies.<\/p>\n More from Variety<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been trying to go the route Paul Newman did \u2014 \u2018Okay, well, I\u2019m not kissing a girl anymore,\u2019\u201d Clooney said.<\/p>\n He added, \u201cWhen I turned 60, I had a conversation with my wife. I said, \u2018Look, I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25-year-old guys. I can still hang, I\u2019m in shape. But in 25 years, I\u2019m 85 years old. It doesn\u2019t matter how many granola bars you eat, that\u2019s a real number.’\u201d<\/p>\n Clooney made his career as one of Hollywood\u2019s most popular romantic leads. Some of his credits include romance films like \u201cOne Fine Day\u201d with Michelle Pfeiffer, \u201cOut of Sight\u201d with Jennifer Lopez, \u201cUp in the Air\u201d with Vera Farmiga and \u201cTicket to Paradise\u201d with Julia Roberts.<\/p>\n The \u201cOcean\u2019s Eleven\u201d star may have been hinting at this decision for a while. He told \u201c60 Minutes<\/a>\u201d back in March that he was stepping away from \u201cromantic films\u201d entirely to make room for Hollywood\u2019s new crop of leading men.<\/p>\n \u201cLook, I\u2019m 63 years old. I\u2019m not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s not my job. I\u2019m not doing romantic films anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n In a 2022 sitdown with the New York Times<\/a>, Clooney recalled that even early in his career, he had trouble with a director who criticized his on-screen kissing technique.<\/p>\n Clooney said, \u201cI remember early on in my career, I had to do a kissing scene with this girl and the director goes, \u2018Not like that.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Dude, that\u2019s my move!
