\n\tJack White<\/a> has stepped in to defend the honor of Rob Reiner<\/a> after President Donald Trump<\/a> used the acclaimed actor and director\u2019s death<\/a> as a jumping off point for an unhinged and deeply insensitive rant<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTrump you disgusting, vile, egomaniac loser, child,\u201d White wrote on Instagram<\/a>, reposting a screenshot of Trump\u2019s Truth Social post. \u201cNeither he nor any one of his followers can defend this gross, horrible insult to a beautiful artist who gave the world so much. To use someone\u2019s tragic death to promote your own vanity and fascist authoritarian agenda is a corrupt and narcissistic sin. Shame on you trump and anyone who defends this.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the post, the president momentarily appeared to be mourning Reiner, though that only lasted through the first sentence of his response. What followed can be described as gross victim blaming. Reiner died alongside his wife at their California home, which police are treating as apparent homicides. Their son Nick has been arrested<\/a> after allegedly\u00a0killing his parents\u00a0in their Los Angeles home.<\/p>\n

\n\tTrump wrote that the couple had \u201cpassed away,\u201d due to \u201cthe anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.\u201d After ranting on about \u201chis raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump\u201d and the so-called \u201cGolden Age of America,\u201d Trump added, \u201cMay Rob and Michele rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReiner was outspoken about his political perspective <\/a>both in his life and in his work. A Few Good Men, The American President, Shock and Awe, and LBJ are among the entires in his filmography that grapple with complex political landscapes and encourage viewers to look closer at the broader implications of various government decisions. In an interview with Rolling Stone<\/a> published in May, Reiner called Trump out for trying to \u201cturn this country into a full-blown autocracy,\u201d adding, \u201cAnd because he\u2019s so dumb and he\u2019s such an incompetent person, he\u2019ll fail, just like he\u2019s failed with everything he\u2019s ever done in his life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhite returned the focus back to Reiner at the end of his caption, joining those who have shared heartfelt tributes<\/a> remembering his life and legacy. \u201cGod bless you Rob Reiner and thank you for what you gave the world,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI never even met you and I still stand by you.\u201d<\/p>\n
