Roughly 3,000 people in the Outlook area are without water after their community\u2019s water distribution system was tampered with.<\/p>\n

An emergency advisory was issued on Monday morning for the town of Outlook and the RM of Rudy, southwest of Saskatoon.<\/p>\n

Kevin Trew, the chief administrative officer for the community of Outlook, said that the town made the discovery early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarly this morning, our staff discovered that our water distribution system has been compromised \u2014 that means that there has been criminal activity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Little is known about the extent of the tampering, but Trew said the RCMP has been notified and is investigating.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur treated water distribution system has been compromised, so therefore we have to shut the water down, so the water distribution system for the town of Outlook is completely shut off at this time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A water supply emergency advisory alert was issued Monday morning for the town of Outlook and Rudy RM #284, southwest of Saskatoon. (Florence Hwang\/980 CJME)<\/p>\n

Trew said it\u2019s too early to say when the water supply will be turned on again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking to restore our water distribution as soon as possible, but we are looking at hours of having no water distribution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be hours because we have to drain the water out of the distribution system \u2013 all of the water \u2013 and then we have to treat the water, and we have to sanitize the distribution system, and then we have to treat the water, so it will be hours,\u201d said Trew.<\/p>\n

He said Outlook\u2019s town council will hold an emergency meeting \u201cshortly\u201d to discuss the next steps.<\/p>\n
