Cam Spencer was feeling himself.<\/p>\n

The Memphis Grizzlies<\/a>‘ reserve guard had just stepped into a 3-pointer and drilled it, giving him a career-high 27 points on Monday night.<\/p>\n

And as Spencer strolled to the bench, the Los Angeles Clippers<\/a> having called timeout, he didn’t look toward his teammates. Instead, he looked toward the Clippers.<\/p>\n

And he yelled these words: “You have to get him off of me.”<\/p>\n

Spencer was feeling so good that he was imploring the Clippers to change their defensive assignments.<\/p>\n

The player he’d just hit the 3 over was youngster Jordan Miller, although it was a bit of a transition defensive mix-up and not necessarily Miller’s fault.<\/p>\n

Still, the absolute confidence.<\/p>\n

Spencer didn’t score again, but he didn’t have to. The Grizzlies were well on their way to a blowout win.<\/p>\n

He added six assists to his 27 points, and he made 9-of-13 shots from the floor, with 7-for-10 coming from 3-point range.<\/p>\n

Spencer is a 25-year-old who was a second-round pick out of UConn in 2024.<\/p>\n

Right now, he’s looking like he absolutely belongs. He’s scored double figures in each of his last five games, including three games of 20 or more points.<\/p>\n

He’s earned a bit of that trash talk.<\/p>\n
