Lightweight boxer Giorgio Visioli says he aims to put on a “massive performance” this Wednesday when he fights Joe Howarth for the vacant English title.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old from Aldershot will be looking to extend his unbeaten record to 10 wins since turning professional in late 2023.<\/p>\n
This contest will be the first headline show of Visioli’s promising career, as well as his first significant title fight.<\/p>\n
The 10-round bout will take place at London’s Indigo at the O2 on a Matchroom Boxing card that features other young and upcoming fighters.<\/p>\n
“I’ve got to put a massive performance on and have to show how great I am,” Visioli told BBC Sport.<\/p>\n
“My performance on Wednesday night will define what happens next year. I’ll go into the ring and show my class.<\/p>\n
“After this fight we’re talking about some big plans. I’m fully focused on Wednesday night, but once I get this out of the way we can look at some big things next year.”<\/p>\n
Since joining Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom stable, Visioli has impressed in each of his nine outings, with six of his wins coming by stoppage.<\/p>\n
He is backed by his management team of former world flyweight champion Sunny Edwards and Anto Fitzpatrick.<\/p>\n
As an amateur, Visioli won two Amateur Boxing Association titles (ABA) and opted to turn professional after Great Britain decided to not select him for their squad<\/a> ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n
