Rob Reiner<\/a> and Michele Singer Reiner got into a \u201cvery loud argument\u201d with their son Nick<\/a> at a party Saturday night, just hours before the director and his wife were found dead<\/a>, according to multiple sources.<\/p>\n

The Reiner family attended a holiday party at the home of Conan O\u2019Brien<\/a>, where Nick reportedly \u201calarmed the guests with his behaviour,\u201d according to two attendees who spoke to The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rob and Nick, 32, reportedly got \u201cinto a shouting match at the party in West Los Angeles,\u201d one of the attendees said, who asked not to be named.<\/p>\n

According to the source, Rob told Nick that his \u201cbehaviour was inappropriate.\u201d The attendee added that people at the party \u201cseemed to be very aware of Nick Reiner\u2019s history with drug abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another partygoer said that he and other people at the party \u201cwere worried\u201d and that \u201cseveral people commented to him on Nick Reiner\u2019s behaviour, saying he looked anxious and uncomfortable in a way that deeply unsettled them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,\u201d another source told People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another person said Nick\u2019s parents were \u201cupset and embarrassed about their son\u2019s behaviour at the party and expressed worries about his health,\u201d NBC News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nick is alleged to have interrupted a conversation involving comedian Bill Hader<\/a>. When Hader told him the conversation was \u201cprivate,\u201d Nick \u201cappeared to stand still and stare before storming off,\u201d one person told NBC News.<\/p>\n

TMZ was the first to report<\/a> on Monday that Reiner and his son got into a \u201cvery loud argument\u201d at O\u2019Brien\u2019s holiday gathering.<\/p>\n

Nick was arrested late Sunday evening and booked into jail<\/a> in Los Angeles County on Monday after his parents were found dead at their home in Los Angeles, according to online jail records<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Police Department has formally announced Nick\u2019s arrest. Online jail records indicate he is being held at Parker Center Jail in downtown Los Angeles with no bail.<\/p>\n

His next court date was set for Dec. 16 but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, told The New York Times<\/a> that there would not be a hearing as his client \u201chad not been medically cleared to be transferred from jail to the courthouse.\u201d<\/p>\n

The situation is \u201cday to day\u201d on when Nick will appear, Jackson told CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles police said that Nick is \u201cresponsible\u201d for the deaths of his parents in a statement released on Monday. (He has not yet faced a trial and nothing has been proven in a court of law.)<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide. The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney\u2019s Office for filing consideration on Tuesday, police added.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement sources told the Times that there was no sign of forced entry into the Reiners\u2019 home and that the couple had injuries consistent with being stabbed.<\/p>\n

The source said that after the incident, one of the couple\u2019s children found them and contacted police.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Fire Department said it responded to a medical aid request shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday and found a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman dead inside. Reiner turned 78 in March.<\/p>\n

Reiner and Singer\u2019s family confirmed their deaths in a statement, writing, \u201cIt is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The famous director and Nick had explored their difficult father-son relationship and Nick\u2019s struggles with drugs in a semi-autobiographical 2016 film, Being Charlie. Nick has spoken publicly of his struggles with addiction. By 18, he had reportedly cycled in and out of treatment facilities with bouts of homelessness and relapses in between.<\/p>\n
