The Chilliwack RCMP says a woman died Monday after suffering injuries from a tree limb that fell in Island 22 Regional Park.<\/p>\n
Police say the woman, a 27-year-old from Chilliwack, was walking with her two children in the park around 3 p.m. when she was struck.<\/p>\n
Two people nearby called 911 and cared for the woman while they waited for emergency responders.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately, the 27\u2011year\u2011old Chilliwack woman was pronounced deceased at the scene,\u201d said an RCMP statement Tuesday, adding that the children were not physically harmed.<\/p>\n
Police say the BC Coroners service is investigating the woman\u2019s death, but there\u2019s \u201cno indication of this being anything other than a tragic and unforeseen event.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wind gusts recorded in Chilliwack Monday reached a reported maximum speed of 66 kilometres per hour.<\/p>\n
Mounties say he weather at the time was severe and unpredictable.<\/p>\n
BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics were called to the scene, but no patients required transportation to hospital.<\/p>\n
