Cereals Canada is advancing the Global Agriculture Technology Exchange (Gate) with two major developments: securing a downtown Winnipeg site through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with James Richardson & Sons, Limited (JRSL), and announcing new funding support from the Province of Manitoba.<\/p>\n
The province has committed an additional $10.5 million to the project, bringing its total pledge to $23.5 million. The investment accelerates progress toward Gate, a $102-million, state-of-the-art facility designed to position Canada at the forefront of global cereals innovation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to thank the province for its continued support of Gate, and Premier Wab Kinew for championing this project over the last nine months,\u201d said Dean Dias, CEO of Cereals Canada. \u201cToday\u2019s announcement puts us another step closer to getting shovels in the ground at a critical time for Canadian agriculture.\u201d<\/p>\n
Under the MOU, Richardson Centre will provide an in-kind contribution of land at the corner of Lombard Avenue and Westbrook Street, near Winnipeg\u2019s historic Portage & Main intersection. The site, long identified as the preferred location for Gate, will anchor the project pending the successful completion of the capital campaign.<\/p>\n
