\n\tA group of Rob Reiner<\/a>\u2019s closest friends and collaborators, including Billy Crystal<\/a>, Larry David<\/a>, Martin Short and Albert Brooks, released a joint statement on Tuesday in remembrance of the prolific filmmaker and his wife, Michele Singer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAbsorbing all he had learned from his father Carl and his mentor Norman Lear, Rob Reiner not only was a great comic actor, he became a master story teller,\u201d read the statement released to The Associated Press<\/a>. \u201cThere is no other director who has his range. From comedy to drama to \u2018mockumentary\u2019 to documentary he was always at the top of his game. He charmed audiences. They trusted him. They lined up to see his films.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe statement continued, \u201cHis comedic touch was beyond compare, his love of getting the music of the dialogue just right, and his sharpening of the edge of a drama was simply elegant.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlong with Crystal, David, Short and Brooks, signatures from Barry Levinson, film writer Alan Zweibel, U.S Ambassador to Spain James Costos and composer Marc Shaiman also appeared on the statement.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe remembrance went on to praise Reiner as a \u201cpassionate, brave citizen,\u201d and Singer as his \u201cperfect partner.\u201d Both Singer and Reiner were outspoken Democrats who frequently advocated for political reform.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cStrong and determined, Michele and Rob Reiner devoted a great deal of their lives for the betterment of our fellow citizens,\u201d the statement read. \u201cThey were a special force together \u2014 dynamic, unselfish and inspiring.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe were their friends, and we will miss them forever,\u201d added the statement before closing with a quote from \u201cIt\u2019s a Wonderful Life,\u201d one of Reiner\u2019s favorite films: \u201c\u2019Each man\u2019s life touches so many other lives, and when he isn\u2019t around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn\u2019t he?\u2019 You have no idea.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReiner, who starred in the 1971 sitcom \u201cAll in the Family\u201d before directing films like \u201cThis Is Spinal Tap,\u201d \u201cWhen Harry Met Sally\u2026,\u201d \u201cA Few Good Men\u201d and \u201cStand by Me,\u201d was found dead<\/a> on Sunday afternoon in his Brentwood home alongside Singer, his wife of over three decades.
