An investigation has been opened into the burglary of New York Liberty<\/a> All-Star Sabrina Ionescu’s home, the latest in a string of high-profile break-ins targeting athletes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday that officers responded to the Los Angeles home around 8:15 p.m. ET Monday evening after two suspects smashed through a rear glass door to gain entry into the residence. The suspects later fled in a vehicle with stolen property, authorities added.<\/p>\n

The authorities didn’t identify what was stolen, but E<\/a>SPN<\/a> reported several handbags worth more than $60,000 were taken from the home Ionescu shares with her husband, former NFL offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu.<\/p>\n

Neither Ionescu or Grasu were home at the time of the burglary. No arrests have been made so far.<\/p>\n

A number of professional athletes have faced similar incidents recently, including Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>\u00a0stars\u00a0Patrick Mahomes<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Travis Kelce<\/a>, Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Joe Burrow<\/a>,\u00a0Dallas Mavericks<\/a>\u00a0guard\u00a0Luka Doncic<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Oklahoma City Thunder MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Cleveland Browns<\/a>\u00a0rookie quarterback\u00a0Shedeur Sanders<\/a>‘ home was burglarized on Nov. 16 while he was making his NFL debut against the Baltimore Ravens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The FBI issued a formal warning to professional leagues in December 2024 about organized groups conducting a string of burglaries.<\/p>\n
