The Boston Red Sox have made a few trades this offseason, but fans are still awaiting their first big splash in free agency.<\/p>\n
Trades to land Sonny Gray and Johan Oviedo are great for the Red Sox, but the team still needs to address the offense. As of right now, Alex Bregman is a free agent, and he would be a key loss. However, the Red Sox are reportedly still interested in him.<\/p>\n

Bregman would be a solid fit for many teams. According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the Arizona Diamondbacks have entered the race<\/a> for him. However, they are not the only team going after the three-time All-Star. The top of the free agent market has stalled, but ESPN\u2019s David Schoenfield predicted<\/a> on Wednesday that Bregman would ultimately re-sign with the Red Sox.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the end, a return to Boston still makes the most sense,\u201d wrote Schoenfield. \u201cThe Red Sox went after Schwarber and Alonso, and they need Bregman\u2019s right-handed bat to help balance out the lefty-heavy lineup.\u201d<\/p>\n It is no surprise the Red Sox want Bregman back. He had his best season since 2019 in their uniform and was a great leader in their clubhouse. As other free agents sign, Bregman becomes an even better option for teams.
