<\/p>\nLove him or hate him, Jake Paul is shaking up women\u2019s boxing in ways that nobody could have ever predicted.<\/p>\n
The prankster-turned-prizefighter, who squares off with heavyweight boxing icon Anthony Joshua on Saturday, is still seen by many as a bit of a novelty act. More showman than serious pug.<\/p>\n
But while many scoff, \u201cThe Problem Child\u201d keeps proving the doubters wrong, selling fights traditional promoters simply couldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Fallon \/ AFP)Source: AFP<\/p>\n Former undisputed world champion Chantelle Cameron went a step further, saying that Paul has effectively \u201csaved\u201d women\u2019s boxing. <\/p>\n \u201cJake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian [CEO of MVP] have saved women\u2019s boxing because it was taking a massive hit until they stepped up, and a lot of women boxers will agree with that,\u201d Cameron told ESPN.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s incredible what they have invested in women\u2019s boxing which had genuinely gone stagnant.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Saudis weren\u2019t interested in putting women\u2019s boxing on like they were men\u2019s boxing. I myself went through a stagnant period because of it and women\u2019s boxing was in danger of completely dropping off the radar.\u201d<\/p>\n Seven-time world champion Amanda Serrano said she was on the brink of retirement before she teamed up with Paul. <\/p>\n She once fought for a world title for as little as $4000 – now she\u2019s earning multimillion-dollar purses.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was just not worth it – the money in boxing,\u201d she told The Breakfast Club.<\/p>\n \u201cI wasn\u2019t getting paid anything, but thank God that Jake Paul came into my life.\u201d<\/p>\n Another fighter grateful to have crossed paths with Paul is Australia\u2019s Cherneka Johnson, who returns to the ring this weekend on the undercard of Paul vs Joshua.<\/p>\n Her title bout features on a stacked card, with millions expected to tune in worldwide via Netflix ahead of the blockbuster main event.<\/p>\n Johnson – Australia\u2019s first undisputed world champion of the four-belt era – will defend her bantamweight titles against undefeated Canadian Amanda Galle.<\/p>\n She admits she was initially unsure what to make of Paul\u2019s controversial transition to boxing.<\/p>\n
