Toronto man facing slew of charges in relation to July 1 incident that prompted a lockdown near Washago and closure of highway<\/p>\n
Police have arrested a seventh person in relation to a home invasion on Canada Day in the Hillside area, east of Huntsville.<\/p>\n
On July 1, shortly before 5 a.m., police responded to reports of an armed home invasion at a private residence.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the situation developed, the investigation extended beyond the original location, prompting the closure of Highway 11<\/a> in both directions between Severn River Road and Coopers Falls Road, and between Canning Road and Graham Road. A hold-and-secure order was issued during the incident,\u201d Huntsville OPP stated in a news release.<\/p>\n On Wednesday, police arrested Syrus Hamilton, 25, of Toronto, and charged him with the following:<\/p>\n
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday in Bracebridge.<\/p>\n
\n\tRobbery using a firearm (restricted or prohibited)
\n\tKidnapping while using certain firearms
\n\tKidnapping while using a firearm
\n\tForcible confinement (two counts)
\n\tAssault with a weapon
\n\tPointing a firearm
\n\tUsing a firearm while committing an offence
\n\tPossession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
\n\tBreak and enter a dwelling house \u2014 commit an indictable offence
\n\tUttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
\n\tTheft of a motor vehicle
\n\tConspiracy to commit an indictable offence
\n\tFailure to comply with a release order other than to attend court
