Stan Wawrinka<\/a> announced on social media on Friday that 2026 will be his last year on Tour.<\/p>\n The Swiss player has won 16 tour-level titles, including three major trophies, and rose to a career-high No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings.<\/p>\n \u201cONE LAST PUSH,\u201d Wawrinka wrote. \u201cEvery book needs an ending. It\u2019s time to write the final chapter of my career as a professional tennis player. 2026 will be my last year on tour.\u201d<\/p>\n \ud83c\udfbeONE LAST PUSH\ud83c\udfbe P perseverance D discipline \u2014 Stanislas Wawrinka (@stanwawrinka) December 19, 2025<\/a> <\/p>\n Known for possessing one of the most elegant one-handed backhands in the game, Wawrinka\u2019s career hit new heights in the middle of the 2010s, winning trophies at the Australian Open<\/a> in 2014, Roland Garros<\/a> in 2015 and the US Open<\/a> in 2016.<\/p>\n Wawrinka has reached the Nitto ATP Finals<\/a> on four occasions, highlighted by three consecutive semi-final runs from 2013-15. He has earned at least three Lexus ATP Head2Head wins against each member of the Big Three \u2014 Roger Federer<\/a>, Rafael Nadal<\/a> and Novak Djokovic<\/a> \u2014 and defeated former World No. 1 Andy Murray<\/a> 10 times.<\/p>\n One of Wawrinka\u2019s highlights representing Switzerland came at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where he partnered Federer to claim the gold medal in the men\u2019s doubles event. He also played a crucial role in Switzerland\u2019s 2014 Davis Cup triumph.<\/p>\n Wawrinka won his first ATP Tour title in Umag in 2006 and captured his latest trophy in Geneva in 2017, though he has since reached finals at Roland Garros<\/a> (2017), Rotterdam (2019), Antwerp (2019) and Umag (2023).<\/p>\n The 40-year-old is set to open his final season in Perth at the United Cup<\/a>, which begins 2 January.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n
