{"id":356082,"date":"2025-12-19T19:16:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T19:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/356082\/"},"modified":"2025-12-19T19:16:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T19:16:11","slug":"ontario-to-mandate-salary-ranges-and-ai-disclosure-in-job-postings-by-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/356082\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario to mandate salary ranges and AI disclosure in job postings by 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"sc-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/computer.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3749\" data-end=\"3925\">Workers and employers across Ontario are preparing for major changes to the hiring process as new pay transparency legislation is set to take effect on January 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3927\" data-end=\"4310\">Under the new rules, Ontario employers with more than 25 employees will be required to include salary or wage ranges in publicly advertised job postings.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3927\" data-end=\"4310\">Employers will also be required to disclose when artificial intelligence is being used to screen, assess, or select job applicants \u2014 a move aimed at increasing transparency and accountability in recruitment practices.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4312\" data-end=\"4703\">Ontario joins a growing number of jurisdictions across North America introducing pay transparency laws, including British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, and several U.S. states.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4312\" data-end=\"4703\">Supporters of the changes say the rules will help streamline hiring by giving job seekers clearer expectations before applying, while also pushing employers to examine and formalize their compensation structures.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5324\" data-end=\"5686\">To prevent abuse of the system, Ontario\u2019s legislation limits how wide salary ranges can be.
