The 2026 NFL head coaching carousel currently has just two vacancies<\/a>, but more will likely open up in the coming weeks as the 2025 season wraps up.<\/p>\n

Despite there being just two open head coaching jobs right now, ESPN’s Adam Schefter already believes one will be highly attractive to candidates. That vacancy is the Tennessee Titans<\/a>, who fired Brian Callahan after a 1-5 start<\/a> and are 2-12 on the year.<\/p>\n

“There are a lot of things going on with the Titans<\/a> that to me make that a highly attractive job for a head coach,” Schefter said on his podcast.<\/a> “If you look at what the Titans are doing now, and the position they’re in, I like that opening for somebody to step into. There’s a head coach out there that is going to get a great opportunity.”<\/p>\n

Schefter mentions that promising rookie quarterback Cam Ward, Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, general manager Mike Borgonzi, a new stadium in 2027, and over $100 million in cap space this offseason<\/a> make Tennessee an enticing head coaching position.<\/p>\n

It’s been a rough last few years for the Titans, but the addition of Ward with the No.1 overall pick in the 2025 draft has injected some excitement into the franchise. Ward hasn’t had a perfect rookie season, but the Miami product has shown flashes, even with an abysmal supporting cast.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Tennessee has the resources this offseason to orchestrate a turnaround in 2026. General manager Mike Borgonzi will likely have a top-five pick<\/a>, and as mentioned above, over $100 million in cap space to utilize.<\/p>\n

The Titans likely won’t be the most attractive opening by January, which is when the carousel kicks off. However, Tennessee is well-positioned to land one of the top head coaching candidates this offseason and begin rebuilding the roster around Ward.<\/p>\n
