{"id":357466,"date":"2025-12-20T11:03:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-20T11:03:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/357466\/"},"modified":"2025-12-20T11:03:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-20T11:03:15","slug":"bowen-yang-will-leave-the-show-after-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/357466\/","title":{"rendered":"Bowen Yang will leave the show after Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Bowen Yang is leaving \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d after this weekend\u2019s Christmas show, in the middle of Season 51.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHe has been there for seven years \u2014 time to move on,\u201d said a person familiar with Yang\u2019s decision to depart the long-running NBC sketch show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/media\/2021\/03\/29\/snl-bowen-yang-emotional-speech-on-asian-hate-orig-bdk.cnn\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yang<\/a> first came on board at \u201cSNL\u201d as a writer in 2018, before joining the cast one year later. He has been nominated for five Primetime Emmys thanks to his involvement in the show, once for writing and four times for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Yang has portrayed many celebrated characters on \u201cSNL,\u201d including the Moo Deng baby hippo and Charli XCX.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ahead of the start of this season of \u201cSNL,\u201d several of Yang\u2019s previous costars announced their departure.
