Canadian rapper bbno$ says he\u2019s stepping away from the music industry over what he says is a constant stream of online negativity.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month the entertainer from British Columbia posted on social media he\u2019d stop making music \u201cfor the foreseeable future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Juno-winning rapper told the Fear& podcast this week he likes to stay positive, but has faced bullying online and says he isn\u2019t a fan of the negativity.<\/p>\n
Bbno$, whose real name is Alexander Gumuchian, says there\u2019s no harm in stepping away, but was indifferent on whether he\u2019d return to music, saying he\u2019ll be doing a lot of self-reflection in 2026.<\/p>\n
Gumuchian burst onto the scene in 2019 with his single \u201cLalala\u201d and gained further traction through TikTok in 2021 for his track \u201cEdamame.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the Juno Awards this year, he won the Fan Choice Award, beating out major names in pop music such as Tate McRae and Shawn Mendes.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve just been bullied online,\u201d he told the podcast. \u201cI\u2019m obviously a small little pillar online of positivity \u2026 I get messages every day from my fans, like my diehards, being like \u2018I can\u2019t keep up with the negativity. I\u2019m trying.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just like, why not take a step away? Like, it\u2019s fine. I\u2019ve done what I\u2019ve needed to do in my life, and maybe I\u2019ll come back, maybe I don\u2019t. I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n
