He has been nominated for five Primetime Emmys thanks to his involvement in the show, once for writing and four times for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series.<\/p>\n
Yang has portrayed many celebrated characters on \u201cSNL,\u201d including Moo Deng the baby hippo and Charli XCX.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has been there for seven years \u2014 time to move on,\u201d a person familiar with Yang\u2019s decision earlier told CNN, as rumours of the star\u2019s departure spread on Friday.<\/p>\n
Representatives for \u201cSNL\u201d declined to comment on the record.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the start of this season of \u201cSNL,\u201d several of Yang\u2019s previous co-stars announced their departure. These included Devon Walker, Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, Emil Wakim and several more.<\/p>\n
In his post, Yang thanked many cast members and writers, as well as the show\u2019s creator and longtime overseer, Lorne Michaels.<\/p>\n
\u201cthank you to lorne for the job. for the standard. and for bringing everyone at work together. they all care deeply about people in the room, any room, enjoying themselves,\u201d Yang wrote. \u201ci can\u2019t believe i was ever included in that.\u201d<\/p>\n
This weekend\u2019s \u201cSNL\u201d host is Ariana Grande, who co-starred with Yang in this year\u2019s \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d as well as last year\u2019s Oscar-winning first film \u201cWicked.\u201d<\/p>\n
