{"id":360257,"date":"2025-12-21T19:15:20","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T19:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/360257\/"},"modified":"2025-12-21T19:15:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T19:15:20","slug":"passenger-dies-in-hospital-two-days-after-driver-killed-in-fife-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/360257\/","title":{"rendered":"Passenger dies in hospital two days after driver killed in Fife crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">A second person has died in hospital following a two-car crash in Fife.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The incident happened at around 23:10 on Friday on the B981, between Cluny and the Chapel junction roundabout.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Police said a 48-year-old woman, who was driving a Volkswagen Polo, was <a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c87l28gddj5o\" class=\"sc-f9178328-0 iCaRzc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">pronounced dead at the scene<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Three passengers from the car were taken to hospital but one, a 64-year-old man, died from his injuries on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Officers said a passenger from the Polo remains in hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">A 33-year-old woman, who was driving the other vehicle, a Nissan Qashqai, was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">She was also taken to hospital but has been discharged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">The road was closed to allow inquiries to be carried out and reopened at about 06:30 on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Sgt Louise Birrell said: &#8220;Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman and man who died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">&#8220;Inquiries into the crash are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything around the time to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scotland.police.uk\/contact-us\/\" class=\"sc-f9178328-0 iCaRzc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">contact officers<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A second person has died in hospital following a two-car crash in Fife.
