{"id":360746,"date":"2025-12-22T01:24:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T01:24:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/360746\/"},"modified":"2025-12-22T01:24:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T01:24:07","slug":"province-gives-mattawa-hospital-a-funding-boost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/360746\/","title":{"rendered":"Province gives Mattawa Hospital a funding boost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018The Ontario government is working to deliver care in our community and ease pressure at the&#13;<br \/>\nMattawa Hospital,\u2019 said MPP Vic Fedeli&#13;\n<\/p>\n<p>The Mattawa Hospital has received an early Christmas present from the province\u2014$250,000 to support operations for the 2025-2026 year.<\/p>\n<p>Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli made the announcement on Thursday, December 18, noting, \u201cThe Ontario government is working to deliver care in our community and ease pressure at the Mattawa Hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recognize the vital role our hospital plays in providing access to connected, high-quality healthcare services, and today\u2019s investment will help them continue to meet the needs of patients,\u201d Fedeli said in a release.<\/p>\n<p>See:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baytoday.ca\/more-local\/local-hospitals-get-funding-for-essential-repairs-and-upgrades-11153373\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Local hospitals get funding for essential repairs and upgrades<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fedeli\u2019s release also emphasized the Ontario government through its Your Health: A plan for Connected and Convenient Care, is expanding and modernizing hospitals to ensure people can connect to the quality care they need, when and where they need it.<\/p>\n<p>Part of these improvements, Fedeli\u2019s release added, is through the government\u2019s $160 million investment in the Ontario Learn and Stay program, which encourages medical students to commit to practicing as family doctors in the province.<\/p>\n<p>Tanya B\u00e9langer, Mattawa General Hospital President and CEO, said, \u201cWe truly appreciate this increase in funding and the recognition of the essential work we do.
