\n\tAmid news of James Ransone<\/a>\u2018s death at age 46<\/a>, Hollywood is mourning the actor known for roles in IT Chapter Two and The Wire.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpike Lee<\/a>, who directed Ransone in Inside Man (2006) and Red Hook Summer (2012), paid tribute to the late actor with a social media post on Sunday, following Ransone\u2019s deathy by suicide on Friday.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cRest In Peace To My Dear Brother, MR. JAMES RANSONE<\/a>,\u201d he wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cWe Rocked Together On RED HOOK SUMMER And INSIDE MAN.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cRIP,\u201d wrote director Larry Clark with a photo of Ransone in his 2002 film Ken Park.<\/p>\n

\n\tSean Baker, who directed Ransone in Starlet (2012) and Tangerine (2015), wrote<\/a>, \u201cI\u2019ll miss you dearly my friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRansone\u2019s Tangerine co-star Mya Taylor also paid her respects in a statement. \u201cRIP James Ransone,\u201d she wrote<\/a>. \u201cThis hurt me so bad. Such a sweet and funny guy. He helped me deal with fame. He could light up a room with his smile and dimples. So funny and sweet and he will be missed. Love this man so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMadeleine McGraw, who starred with Ransone in The Black Phone (2021) and Black Phone 2 (2025), shared a tribute. \u201cI\u2019m struggling to put into words the profound emptiness I\u2019m feeling since learning of James Ransone\u2019s passing. My heart is absolutely shattered,\u201d she wrote on her Instagram Story.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actress remembered Ransone as \u201csuch a beautiful soul\u201d and \u201cso genuinely supportive,\u201d recalling he was \u201cfull of kindness and so much passion\u201d after he gave her parents \u201cheartfelt advice\u201d about \u201chow to guide and protect me in this industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen he returned for his cameo in Black Phone 2, he was just as humble and grateful, lighting up with pure excitement to be on the Black Phone set,\u201d she continued. \u201cWe got to catch up, laugh and connect again, and he was exactly the same: that radiant, passionate man overflowing with love for me, for his craft and for his family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMcGraw wrote, \u201cJames, you truly changed me. You inspired me in ways I\u2019ll carry forever. And I promise, with everything in me, to live by the wisdom you shared with me that night at the premiere. I already miss you so deeply. Rest in peace, my friend. You were one of a kind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWendell Pierce, Ransone\u2019s The Wire and Treme co-star, wrote on X<\/a>, \u201cSorry I couldn\u2019t be there for you, brother. Rest in Peace James Ransone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRansone was found dead<\/a> by hanging on Friday in Los Angeles, having apparently died by suicide, according to the county medical examiner\u2019s report.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe is survived by wife Jamie McPhee and their son.<\/p>\n
