{"id":361633,"date":"2025-12-22T12:08:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T12:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/361633\/"},"modified":"2025-12-22T12:08:13","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T12:08:13","slug":"vasseur-considering-engineer-switch-for-hamilton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/361633\/","title":{"rendered":"Vasseur considering engineer switch for Hamilton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur (pictured with Lewis Hamilton) has openly acknowledged that the Scuderia misjudged the scale of Lewis Hamilton\u2019s difficulties during his troubled first season in red.<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton endured a winless 2025 campaign, managing only a single sprint victory and no grand prix podiums, as Ferrari struggled to integrate the seven-time world champion after his long Mercedes career.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking ahead of Christmas, Vasseur admitted the transition proved far tougher than expected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll start in better shape,\u201d Vasseur told <a href=\"https:\/\/sport.sky.it\/formula-1\/2025\/12\/19\/f1-vasseur-ferrari-intervista\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sky Italia<\/a> when asked about Hamilton and 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLewis now knows the team, and we know him much better than last year. He knows every software and every tool. We\u2019ll do a better job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the Frenchman conceded a clear miscalculation. \u201cLeclerc feels at home, but it was a big challenge for Hamilton,\u201d he said. \u201cI underestimated him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Italian media report that Ferrari are now reassessing how Hamilton is supported on the pitwall. According to Corriere della Sera, a change of race engineer \u2013 with Riccardo Adami under scrutiny \u2013 is one of several options being considered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to improve our collaboration with Lewis,\u201d Vasseur said. \u201cHe needs to learn how to get the most out of the car. While Ferrari announced only a \u201cmulti-year\u201d deal when signing the Briton in early 2024, Bild claims the agreement extends through 2027, with a unilateral option allowing Hamilton to continue into 2028 \u2013 potentially racing at age 43.<\/p>\n<p>The same report suggested that, internally, Ferrari is aware Hamilton\u2019s marketing value alone cannot offset a lack of sporting success, with Oliver Bearman clearly waiting in the wings.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrari have not commented on those claims.
