{"id":362566,"date":"2025-12-22T22:17:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T22:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/362566\/"},"modified":"2025-12-22T22:17:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T22:17:12","slug":"mariners-sign-former-red-sox-yankees-hitter-with-1-special-skill-rob-refsnyder-to-seattle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/362566\/","title":{"rendered":"Mariners sign former Red Sox, Yankees hitter with 1 special skill \u2014 Rob Refsnyder to Seattle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/seattle-mariners\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle Mariners<\/a> have bolstered their batting order against left-handed pitching.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the Mariners announced that they had signed Refsnyder to a one-year deal.<\/p>\n<p>Refsnyder is an outfielder whose two most prominent MLB stretches have come with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/new-york-yankees\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Yankees<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/boston-red-sox\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Red Sox<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He has also played MLB games for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/minnesota-twins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Minnesota Twins<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/tampa-bay-rays\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tampa Bay Rays<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/toronto-blue-jays\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/texas-rangers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Rangers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Refsnyder played for the Red Sox from 2022-25.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest skill Refsnyder has is his ability to hit left-handed pitching.<\/p>\n<p>In his MLB career, Refsnyder has hit .281 against lefties with an .826 OPS (that compares to .229 and .633 against righties).<\/p>\n<p>MORE:\u00a0<a target=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/chicago-white-sox\/news\/white-sox-munetaka-murakami-surprise-mlb-34-million-free-agent-contract\/8806a744a932f79434953bf7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">White Sox surprise MLB with Munetaka Murakami contract<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Refsnyder has hit 22 home runs against lefties in the majors, double the amount he has hit against righties even though he has done it in fewer at bats.<\/p>\n<p>Refsnyder also sees the ball much better, working one walk for every 1.5 strikeouts against lefties but only one walk for every three strikeouts against righties.<\/p>\n<p>The Mariners have a deep lineup already, so Refsnyder is really a luxury addition.
