SAN FRANCISCO \u2014 Warriors forward Draymond Green<\/a> had a\u00a0heated exchange\u00a0with coach Steve Kerr in the huddle during a third-quarter timeout Monday night and then went to the locker room on his own to cool down.<\/p>\n

Kerr said even once Green returned to the bench for the finish of\u00a0Golden State’s 120-97 win\u00a0against the Orlando Magic he wasn’t going to play again after what happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got into it obviously and I took the timeout just because I thought we lost our focus there a little bit,\u201d Kerr said. \u201cWe had it out a little bit and he made his decision to go back to the locker room to cool off and that\u2019s all I\u2019m going to say about it. Everything is private. I’ve got nothing further to add.\u201d<\/p>\n

Green contributed nine points and seven rebounds in nearly 18 minutes after\u00a0being ejected early in the second quarter\u00a0Saturday against Phoenix for consecutive technicals.<\/p>\n

\u201cTempers spilled over and I just thought it was best that I get out of there,\u201d Green said. \u201cI don’t think there was a situation where it was going to get better so it was just best to remove myself. That’s it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Green said he was available to play again but it wasn’t his decision \u2014 and he had stiffened up by then, too.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought I owed it to my teammates to be there. I’m not going to quit on my teammates,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Golden State’s 15-15 record is hardly what this group expected at this stage, and Green noted \u201cthat’s probably why tempers are flaring.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBasketball, it’s what we do,\u201d he said of what caused the frustration. \u201cWe play basketball, it’s an emotional game. People lose their emotions sometimes, it happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said of leaving for the locker room, \u201cI just thought that was best for me\u201d and afterward he felt a responsibility to speak with the media \u201cfor sure.\u201d Assistant coach Anthony Vereen accompanied Green.<\/p>\n

Stephen Curry said his observation was Kerr and Green \u201cjust having a good conversation.”<\/p>\n

“That’s kind of for them to talk about, not me,” the star guard said.<\/p>\n

Curry said there were positive, winning vibes in the locker room after a nice win and \u201cI’m pretty sure we know how to be professional.\u201d<\/p>\n

Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski said Green \u201cwas a great teammate on the bench\u201d after coming back.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll get figured out,\u201d Podziemski said.<\/p>\n

Asked if he thinks the issue will linger, Kerr said: \u201cNo.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe group’s ready to go, you could see in the game tonight,” he explained. “We need Draymond. He’s a champion. We’ve been together for a long time. All we can do is the rest of the group keep pushing, keep getting better. I thought this was one of our better games. I thought the first half was brilliant \u2014 we just didn’t make shots.
