Warriors forward Draymond Green had a heated exchange with his head coach, Steve Kerr, in a third-quarter huddle during Monday night\u2019s win over the Orlando Magic before leaving the court and heading to the locker room to calm down.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe got into it obviously and I took the timeout just because I thought we lost our focus there a little bit,\u201d Kerr said. \u201cWe had it out a little bit and he made his decision to go back to the locker room to cool off and that\u2019s all I\u2019m going to say about it. Everything is private. I\u2019ve got nothing further to add.\u201d<\/p>\n
The incident came days after Green was ejected in Saturday\u2019s game against Phoenix for consecutive technicals.<\/p>\n
\u201cTempers spilled over and I just thought it was best that I get out of there,\u201d Green said after Monday\u2019s game. \u201cI don\u2019t think there was a situation where it was going to get better so it was just best to remove myself. That\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Green said he would have been happy to reenter the game after his break in the locker room but Kerr chose not to send him back on to court.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought I owed it to my teammates to be there. I\u2019m not going to quit on my teammates,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Golden State\u2019s 15-15 record is hardly what this group expected at this stage of the season, and Green noted \u201cthat\u2019s probably why tempers are flaring.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBasketball, it\u2019s what we do,\u201d he said of what caused the frustration. \u201cWe play basketball, it\u2019s an emotional game. People lose their emotions sometimes, it happens \u2026 I just thought that was best for me [to go to the locker room]\u201d. <\/p>\n
Stephen Curry said he believed Kerr and Green were \u201cjust having a good conversation\u201d before the forward left for the locker room. Curry added: \u201cThat\u2019s kind of for them to talk about, not me \u2026 I\u2019m pretty sure we know how to be professional.\u201d<\/p>\n
Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski said Green \u201cwas a great teammate on the bench\u201d after coming back.<\/p>\n
Asked if he thinks the issue will linger, Kerr said: \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe group\u2019s ready to go, you could see in the game tonight,\u201d Kerr said. \u201cWe need Draymond. He\u2019s a champion. We\u2019ve been together for a long time. All we can do is the rest of the group keep pushing, keep getting better. I thought this was one of our better games. I thought the first half was brilliant \u2013 we just didn\u2019t make shots. I thought Draymond played great.\u201d<\/p>\n
