{"id":363835,"date":"2025-12-23T13:20:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T13:20:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/363835\/"},"modified":"2025-12-23T13:20:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T13:20:10","slug":"red-bull-wrong-to-drop-lawson-in-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/363835\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Bull wrong to drop Lawson in &#8217;25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) Max Verstappen says Red Bull Racing acted too quickly in dropping Liam Lawson (pictured together in March 2025) after just two races at the very start of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo races for a teammate; of course I didn\u2019t agree with that at the time,\u201d the quadruple world champion told <a href=\"https:\/\/viaplay.com\/nl-nl\/sport\/motorsport\/formula-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Viaplay<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lawson \u2013 then still a rookie \u2013 had been promoted to the senior team to replace Sergio Perez, but was quickly sent back to Racing Bulls due to the way he struggled in Australia and China.<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen continued: \u201cBecause, ultimately, someone is giving up their opportunity. Then you\u2019re ruining that opportunity at a top team,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to say, Liam has done well at Racing Bulls. You could also say, \u2018Just let it go, I don\u2019t care anymore,\u2019 but two races are too soon to make a decision. In the end, Yuki (Tsunoda) got in, and that shows how difficult it was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Tsunoda has been dropped completely, Lawson will remain with Racing Bulls in 2026 and has welcomed the chance for a full winter build-up.<\/p>\n<p>With Christian Horner and now also Dr Helmut Marko gone, Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff says Red Bull\u2019s F1 family is now well set up on the driver front.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo young drivers on the talent team,\u201d he said, referring to Lawson and rookie Arvid Lindblad at Racing Bulls for 2026. \u201cIsack Hadjar gets a chance next to Max,\u201d Mintzlaf added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis suits Red Bull \u2013 we find the best talents for the best positions.
