I think that there\u2019s an opportunity to add another bat to the roster and complement the group that we have right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Contreras is expected to take on a majority of the work at first base, with Triston Casas easing his way back in from an injury. The two could share first base and designated hitter duties at some point. However, adding another bat could round out a stellar offseason for Breslow.<\/p>\n

The Red Sox pursued big bats in free agency, being linked to Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber before they signed. They remain linked to Alex Bregman, who could be the bat they are looking for.<\/p>\n
Re-signing Bregman, adding Contreras and trading for two starting pitchers could be enough to set the Red Sox up for a deep run. Last season, they were eliminated in the Wild Card round, but with their new look rotation and added production at first base, they could be a real threat in the American League.<\/p>\n
