target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/recalls-rappels.canada.ca\/en\/alert-recall\/unlicensed-chroma-light-uv-lamp-may-pose-health-risks?utm_source=gc-notify&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=en&amp;utm_campaign=hc-sc-rsa-22-23\">sunlamp<\/a> for safety concerns over possible skin reactions, burns and eye damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The item is the Chroma D-Light, which is sold online and advertised as a way to help support vitamin D levels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThe lamp may pose health risks due to excessive and unsafe UV radiation levels,\u201d the notice says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to the advisory, excessive exposure to UV radiation from using the lamp can cause skin reactions and burns, eye damage, premature skin aging and skin cancer with repeated exposure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In Canada, it is illegal to advertise and import for sale, or sell, medical devices without appropriate licensing under the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/regulations\/sor-98-282\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/regulations\/sor-98-282\/\">Medical Devices Regulations<\/a>, the notice says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As a result, Health Canada has requested that the company address the safety concerns and is asking retailers that sell unlicensed Chroma D-Light UV lamps to stop selling them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Health Canada also notes that it will notify the public should any other safety concerns arise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The department asks that if you have used this lamp, or any unlicensed UV lamp, and are experiencing skin reactions and burns or eye damage to consult with a health-care provider.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">For preventative action, Health Canada asks the public to be wary of the risks of buying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/healthy-living\/your-health\/medical-information\/buying-medical-devices-over-internet.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">medical devices online<\/a> and verify if a UV lamp has been licensed for sale by searching the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/healthy-living\/your-health\/medical-information\/buying-medical-devices-over-internet.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/healthy-living\/your-health\/medical-information\/buying-medical-devices-over-internet.html\">medical devices active licence listing.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Health Canada also asks the public to report any health product-related <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/drugs-health-products\/medeffect-canada\/adverse-reaction-reporting.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">side effects<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/drugs-health-products\/compliance-enforcement\/problem-reporting\/health-product-complaint-process-summary.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">complaints<\/a> to the department and to stay current on its <a href=\"https:\/\/recalls-rappels.canada.ca\/en\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/recalls-rappels.canada.ca\/en\">recalls and safety alerts database<\/a> for advisories on illegal health products.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Health Canada is
