Our thoughts are with the survivors as they begin the difficult journey of physical and emotional recovery. The NFL family is resilient and united, and together, we will find strength in one another as we heal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The league held a virtual town hall Wednesday, giving employees an opportunity to connect and share resources. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told employees on Tuesday they could work remotely at least through the end of next week because league offices would be closed.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators believe Shane Tamura, 27, of Las Vegas, was trying to get to the NFL offices after shooting <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/victims-office-shooting-new-york-nfl-2869b5bb31e6480dc2c20175d270ad88\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:several people;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">several people<\/a> in the building\u2019s lobby, then another in a 33rd-floor office on Monday, before he killed himself, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>Police said Tamura had a history of <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/manhattan-office-shooting-nfl-nyc-d32bec88dfe208af1a413cec02034a14\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:mental illness;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">mental illness<\/a>, and a rambling note found on his body suggested that he had a grievance against the NFL over a claim that he suffered from <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/cte-nfl-shooting-new-york-brain-disease-b7185134d79d56823a5a30af66f6aa79\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:chronic traumatic encephalopathy;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">chronic traumatic encephalopathy<\/a>, a degenerative brain disease that can be diagnosed only by examining the brain after a person dies.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Tamura played high school football in California a decade ago but never in the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>This is a big week for the NFL as the preseason schedule kicks off Thursday night with the annual Hall of Fame game.
