{"id":365512,"date":"2025-12-24T07:46:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-24T07:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/365512\/"},"modified":"2025-12-24T07:46:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-24T07:46:07","slug":"nfl-upholds-two-game-suspension-of-chargers-perryman-for-helmet-to-helmet-hit-against-cowboys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/365512\/","title":{"rendered":"NFL upholds two-game suspension of Chargers\u2019 Perryman for helmet-to-helmet hit against Cowboys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 The NFL has upheld a two-game suspension of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/team-page\/los-angeles-chargers\/315\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/team-page\/los-angeles-chargers\/315\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> linebacker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/player\/denzel-perryman\/94134\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/player\/denzel-perryman\/94134\" target=\"_blank\">Denzel Perryman<\/a> for a helmet-to-helmet against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/team-page\/dallas-cowboys\/291\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/team-page\/dallas-cowboys\/291\" target=\"_blank\">Dallas Cowboys<\/a> last weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The league announced Tuesday that hearing officer Jordy Nelson, jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFL Players Association, agreed with the league\u2019s decision to suspend Perryman for the final two regular-season games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Perryman was flagged for an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit on Cowboys wide receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/player\/ryan-flournoy-1012790\/1012790\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/player\/ryan-flournoy-1012790\/1012790\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Flournoy<\/a> in the Chargers\u2019 34-17 win over the Cowboys on Sunday. The NFL cited Perryman\u2019s \u201crepeated violations\u201d of player safety rules in sitting him for multiple games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said Perryman tried to pull up and minimize contact with Flournoy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">An 11-year veteran, Perryman is in his second stint with the Chargers. He was suspended three games for repeated violations of player safety rules while with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/team-page\/houston-texans\/306\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nfl\/team-page\/houston-texans\/306\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Texans<\/a> in 2023 and missed two games following an appeal.
